Nail polish on hardwood floor

Hi, Makena. I'm sure that your owner will still love you and, more importantly, feed you but you really did a bad puppy thing. You should have used a nailpolish that was closer to the color of cherry. I have one suggestion but you have to try it out very carefully and then don't get carried away if it seems to work OK.

Get some lacquer thinner at the home center. Put some on a Q-tip and try it on a little spot of the nailpolish. It might eat the finish as easily as nailpolish remover would but I believe that it will have less of an effect than that. The finish on your prefinished floor will probably be pretty strong and you just might get away with this. Have another dry Q-tip ready if it seems to be removing only the nailpolish to blot up the color.
