No fireplace in the area of leak. We had a representative of the insurance company tell us that the leak was due to incorrectly installed siding. The insurance company is balking at repairing the leak, saying they will only cover the water damaged items and framing repairs. They said that they will not cover bad workmanship.

A contractor that we had look at the area suggested it was caused by missing and incorrectly installed flashing where the siding meets the brick and soffit. He recommended that the siding be pulled back and the flashing repaired. Also, he found a similar situation on the corner opposite the problem area. There was bare wood and missing flashing in that corner. The estimate to correct the flashing problem on both corners was $350.

Do you have any advise on dealing with the insurance company? I would like them to cover the total claim, not point fingers at poor workmanship. We have never had a claim in over 17 years of coverage.
