or your transformer is bad because it can no longer provide the power the light string is demanding and therefore the voltage is dropping under a load that is trying to draw current .

if you have a different set of lights you can hook up to it...try that and see if they will light. or if you have another low voltage lighting transformer hook them up to that set of lights ....My guess is most likely you have a faulty transformer but go thru the troubleshooting I suggested above to isolate the bad item or parts. LJ
