Karen, you really got my curiosity up on this. Thanks to Professor Gene Wengert of, we probably have the answer: He said that your floors could be Oregon myrtle wood. To make it even more confusing, sometimes Douglas fir is called oregon pine. Douglas fir that is exported to Australia is just called "Oregon" there.

I'm certainly happy that we have that settled!! LOL We went from a choice of 2 to a forest of 4, and Douglas fir is not even a hardwood. It is a beautiful wood and should make a great floor, though. Perhaps not as long lasting as the harder woods though.

This has made my Saturday. Karen, if you find out for sure, please let us know! Happy that I was able to "help"? LOL
