my opinion, for a ceiling fan light fixture, you can safely do without the ground wire

all you will need to do is wire up the black and blue wire from the fan to the black hot wire in the ceiling electrical box and the white wire to the white neutral wire in the ceiling electrical box and that should be sufficient to give you power to your fan and your fan/light fixture....both of which will be controlled invidually by their own pull chain switches. Make sure you turn off the circuit breaker for that light fixture before removing the existing one and wiring up the fan/light. good luck. LJ
