I can't claim to understand why, since I didn't bother reading that far, but a quick Alta Vista search found several municipal websites that indicated that aluminum siding must be grounded.

There were several other websites in my search that dealt with electrocution hazards of ungrounded aluminum siding, but like I said, I didn't really read them.

So, there may be a legitimate reason for the inspector commenting on this, even if it's simply to fulfill local regs. Believe me, whether the reg makes sense or not, you DON'T want to cross your local City Hall...I've seen some interesting stuff happen!
