motor oil on hardwood floor

Posted by Karen on July 10th, 1998 02:38 PM

I came home last night to discover about 3 quarts of used motor oil spead across the hardwood floor in my kitchen (never mind the details other than it involved my dog). My house is 100 years old, and I think the floors are pine. I removed most of the oil using cat litter, but a thin residue still remains. The floors weren't stained very badly, only slightly darker in some spots than before. Any ideas on how to remove the oil residue from my floor? Thanks, Karen
