only go about 1/4 of an inch. I may be off one sixteenth or so, but definately not an inch.
But, you can, fill in the dip using shims and new flooring sub material. Rent a lazer levelor and use this to determine what level is and to assist you with this project.
Its like filling in a pond that you don't want any more.
You were the one that was about to create a jack system in a weak flooring basement to jack up the area, right?????
