HI BOB,

IF THE WALL IS EXPOSED ON BOTH SIDES, BUNCH UP SOME NEWSPAPER AND PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG. BUNCH UP A LOT OF IT SO IT FITS IN THE HOLE REAL TIGHT. (USE 2 BAGS OF PAPER IF NECESSARY.) THEN, STUFF IT/THEM IN THE HOLE ABOUT 2" BACK. THEN, GO AHEAD AND REPAIR THE HOLES AS STEVE SAYS.

IF THE WALL IS EXPOSED ON ONE SIDE, YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO KEEP WATER AND SUCH FROM GETTING IN THERE. THAT'S WHERE STEVE'S IDEA OF THE BACKER COMES IN HANDY. IF IT'S NOT TOO MUCH PROBLEM TO DIG DOWN BEHIND THE WALL, DO SO AND SET A FLAT PIECE OF INSULATION BOARD OR EVEN PRESSURE TREATED WOOD OVER THE HOLE. THEN, BACKFILL WITH DIRT TO HOLD THE BOARD IN PLACE. THEN, STUFF THE BAG OF PAPER BACK INTO THE HOLE, AND FILL.

MY BEST TO YA AND HOPE THIS HELPS.
