house. Properly done, 2x6 walls without OSB or plywood sheathing will be fine. The way I've done it in the past with 2x6 walls was to "let in" 2x4 stringers perpendicular to the 2x6 studs at the 32 inch and 64 inch level. This gave backing to the 1" Dow blue styrofoam and the siding over that. The corners were braced with the T shaped metal strips for strength. I lived in that house for 17 years and never had any racking or cracking from wind, etc. I did use 1/2 inch plywood siding over the styrofoam, so that may have helped stiffen it to some degree. At any rate, without the 2x4 let ins, I would probably have used plywood or OSB over the studs.
