I agree, Angie. A lot of the older moldings were pretty thick so you could add 1/2" of drywall and still have 1/4" of molding depth around the windows, for instance. This looks OK. Some other moldings may not work with this and you will have to remove them and install spacer wood underneath or put them over the drywall. You have the advantage of seeing exactly the situation in your house.
