Mold on Basement Walls-Safe Removal/Cleanup

Posted by Kathy Mac on February 17th, 2001 09:30 AM

My father is very ill. He has seepage on his basement walls that extends upwards 6" - 12" above the floor. It's like a heavy condensation and has caused mold. He asked us to scrub it with bleach for him and repaint, however my husband read that scrubbing mold causes the spores to become airborne, travelling through the ductwork to other areas of the house. Since my father is so ill, we'd rather not risk this. Does someone have a safe alternative for removing the mold that would avoid disturbing the mold spores so much? We know at some point the root of the problem will have to be fixed, just can't address that right now due to circumstances. Many thanks-
