We just bought our dream house on cape cod (second home). We have a sunroom that is year round (electric heat) and seems to have a lot of problems not uncovered by our building inspector.
1-bad scent when closed up-to the point that you would not want to sit in room with window closed.
2-Aluminum sliding windows have condesation dripping on frames which have caused rot to inside sill. As we only are able to "commute" to the house about once a month-this is a big problem because it is just sitting there on sill.
3-There is a crawl space, no vapor barrier on floor and I will fix-I am told this may help with smell but am suspicicious that window condensation has been leaking into sill (and walls and insulation underneath) for years.
We are not able to find anyone with the skill/expertise to tell us what to do with this situation--the smell and condensation in my mind need to be addressed and if anyone can help I would be eternally grateful.
