I actually had the builder come out today and it was just tar luckily. The black apperance had me over reacting. The sub floor is wood. The other issue is that the rubber carpet pad we pulled out was musty and smelled quite a bit. It was thirteen years old and seems to have been retaining moisture. Do you have any ideas how I can prevent this in the future? Will a modern carpet mad not retain moisture like an older rubber one? I also plan on getting another dehumidifer in the basement. There is one but the basement is 2700 sq ft. Any thoughts would be appreciated
