Mildew resistant paints worthwhile?

Posted by Chris Russo on June 26th, 2001 02:46 PM

I am painting a bathroom that had a moderate mildew problem
on the previous paint. The previous paint was flat noname paint sprayed onto a textured cieling.
I have bleach-washed it to kill the mildew and scraped a lot of the texture
away and now I am getting ready to paint. Is a mildew resistant paint
a necessity, or will any good quality semi-gloss work out OK? Does the mildew
resistant paint have a bad odor to it (I've heard rumors)?
Also, I have installed a vent fan to cut down on the moisture problem as well.
