Hi, Jim. Getting rid of mildew is the same about anywhere. Wash with 1 cup of household bleach to a gallon of water and a sponge. You might lightly scrub with a wood backed natural bristle brush. Try not to get anymore bleach water spread around than you have to.

The bigger question is how to get rid of the humidity that caused the mildew, unless it came from flooding from Hurricane Floyd or something. You can get paint with extra mildewcide built in or mixed in with the paint but this is just another stopgap. The humidity will not do clothes and shoes any favors either. Find out where the humidity is coming from and fix the problem.

Good luck
