Have the plugs been messed with lately?
Most sumps have two plugs, and one piggybacks on the other. One plug is for the float/switch, the other provides power to the pump itself.
If, for some bizarre reason, the pump plug has been plugged directly into an outlet, it'll run non-stop.
Other than that...yeah it's likely a stuck float or a bad switch.
Still, I thought I'd offer that up to prevent the "rewiring the house because of a burned out llght bulb" syndrome.
