Good for you! I hope you find the cabinets you are looking for. I purchased a 95 year old house that had a kitchen remodeled in 1955 with those wonderful metal cabinets. They were an ugly olive green, but in great shape, not rusted or dented. I washed them with TSP, lightly sanded them, primed them and then put two coats of latex gloss enamel paint on them (white). I replaced the chrome handles and they are GEORGEOUS! I'm so happy I didn't let anyone talk me into replacing them with wood. I am very happy with them. The biggest problem was finding handles for them. Standard gap is 3" these days and these have a 2-3/4 inch. I had to find a specialty shop that would special order them and they cost $3.50 each....but it was worth it. Good luck.
