Mercury light is too bright...

Posted by Pam on November 13th, 2002 09:24 AM

I recently had electricians put a mercury light on the side of my house (actually on the leg of a deck on the side of my house). The light is serving its purpose (to eluminate the side of the house next to the woods), but is an ugly bluish color. Looks like a spaceship is landing in my side yard.

I would like to replace it with the warmer yellowish lights I have seen. Apparently, you can't change out a mercury light bulb for the amber type lightbulb unless you change the fixture.

Is it difficult to change the fixture? I know it's hardwired, but do I really need an electrician to do this?

Thanks for any info you can give.
