Your electrician probably installed a Metal Halide fixture not Mercury -- Metal Halide produces a blue white light. High Pressure Sodium produces a yellow light. Swithching out a HID (High Intensity Discharge)lighting fixture is no more difficult than any other hard wired fixture. So, depending on your level of skill this is a task many can accomplish. You may want to keep the currently installed fixture and see what happens after the lamp ages a bit from use. The blue white will color shift and be less blue but never yellow. Three months or so of operation.
