Greetings All,

Do you think what he meant was to re drywall the ceiling and start over?

He may have just used the wrong term!

Depending on how bad the the ceiling is, that may be the down and dirty way to deal with it?

However, I almost never like the idea of adding weight to a ceiling that is already uneven.

If it can't be cleaned and repaired, I would take down the ceiling and do the repair work to the joist and re drywall/re finish.

I agree with my compadre's, get a second opinion maybe a third.
