In reply to Trying to Identify Vinyl Siding by Lois Davis on January 5th, 2003 10:41 AM [Go to top of thread]

Greetings Lois,

It's pretty hard to do this without seeing it but,
when you say, "the kind of vinyl siding that is supposed to look like it was painted over wood", do you mean that it has more than one color or do you mean that it is a solid color with a woodgrain look?

Is the siding an 8" to the weather or double 4" to the weather. (this is measured from the bottom of the panel up to the next but edge.)

If it's a 4" to the weather, is it a true 4" or is it 3 3/4".

You might want to check with a siding company that has been in business since before 1987.

My Dads company started around 1953 and I think he has a sample case from just about every brand he ever sold.

1987 was not that long ago. I will check into this for you to see what this might be.

You mentioned ice damage, where are you located? This will also help to try to decide what manufactures my have been distributing in your area at the time.

Good luck,
