In reply to masonite class action lawsuit by robert rascher on September 29th, 1999 04:03 PM [Go to top of thread]

I am purchasing a house with what appears to be Masonite or hardboard siding. The house was built in 1985. The siding appears to be in excellent condition, even on the bottom by the foundation. There are no cracks, splits and the bottom isn't rotten. I have no immediate concerns about this. Some of the surrounding houses seem to have a few problems, but none too bad.

Can you advise me as to what the prognosis is for this type siding? I would probably replace it if necessary just to be on the safe side in a year or two. The house is about to be inspected, so this will be pointed out.

Thank you.
