i made a "pattern" by cutting Fimo dough into a 4 X 4 tile. The I made the raised part of tile from rolled fimo making scrolls and the such; mimicking patterns I have seen. Cooked the fimo according to directions to harden it. I cut up old pop and beer cans into 4 X 4 squares and placed it over my form tile and made the embossed look by hammering it with a rubber mallot and wood pieces and folded the edges. To make the look of larger tiles, I made the pattern tile to be 1/4 of the design I wanted and, obviously put the 4 together to form the look of a larger tile. My kitchen ceiling looks authentic and I am recycling!
