low pitched roof

Posted by Adri on September 25th, 2002 10:00 PM

I am hoping someone can help me. Our house has a 2 to 2 1/2 pitch roof. The roof needs replacing (there are bows in the roof) and we are considering raising the roof. What pitch would you recommend? Also, a contractor told us that putting a whole new roof on would not be worth our money, but then said that we would be replacing our roof every 8-10 years due to that pitch. If we have to replace all the decking anyway--is raising the roof going to be that much more? I think it would add curb appeal as well as add life to the roof whereas my husband is concerned about not getting our money back if we sell in 2 to 3 years. Any opinions on this? Should we just repair and reshingle?
