We have an old New England home that houses the garage in the barn, which is also connected to the house. The "garage" presently has two, large solid doors that slide to one side or another. The main problem that we see is that we have only 7 feet clearance and we can't seem to find garage doors to fit the mold. Our dream is to be able to install garage doors that can be hooked up to a door opener so that it's not such a laborious production to open them, especially during a snow storm. It has been suggested that we jack the barn up (we have a new slate roof and we're afraid that jacking the barn would damage the roof) dig down in the ground and pour a new concrete pad. I would rather not do that if an alternative could be suggested. Any different solutions are greatly appreciated!!
