Long time no post - skim coat vs. paint - Dry time?

Posted by jb on November 21st, 2002 09:57 PM

Hi, jb is back - haven't posted in quite a while, been mega busy. I'm an old (not too) pro with most all carpentry and GC stuff, but I need an expert take on a skim coat vs. paint timing question.

How long do I need to wait before priming and painting newly plastered walls (blue board and skim coat). I have been told as short as one day and as long as one month. My schedule is tight and I want to paint right away. Otherwise people will move into the office and I'll have no paint on the walls and will have to paint at later date after carpet, etc. etc. HELP!
