Chuck, this is a very very opinionated question.

In my opinion, a log home is much better than a brick home. The astetics, the insulation factor, the wear and tear and the ease of maintenance.

I have built several log homes in the East Texas area and IF built properly and the proper ground tests done, you will have a home for a long time.

Each log is spiked down to the preceding log every two feet. Each log has a bead or two of liquid nails for insurance.

Your logs should have been already dried and prepped for the job. You can spray additinal stain and sealant on the face of the logs at any time.

The insulation factor is much greater than any brick home you will find.

The astetics is non comparable, in my opinion.

With proper maintenance, just like a deck, the home will last for decades.

Just watch those termites and make sure you do your work on this area.
