Local laws on trapping

The law in Michigan is that the Animal Control agent can supply and check a trap but he has to let the critter go on the same property. He can catch a squirrel that came down your chimney into your house, but the furtherest he can take it away is your lot line for release. You might check your location. Extermination services might be a little more flexible.

Our local guy told me that they could not trap rats here because rats do not exist in our town. The one I trapped from under the woodpile was about as big as an opossum. I do think that it came from around some industrial plant as many of the guys in these actually feed the rats for something to do on third shift.
