I am in a simular situation, exceptions being longer wall being removed, and having a second floor above.
I was told ( one inch per linear foot ) would be the size of a beam required, width wise
I am removing a 21.6 foot wall and installing a 6 X 15 rough sawn with posts extending through floor to basement floor. iS this assumption correct as per the one inch per linear.
