load bearing wall

Posted by Shon on March 30th, 2001 01:34 PM

I have a wall that does not appear to be load bearing. However, my concern is that I don't weaken my house structurally. What I want to do is cut a hole in my wall that will be 7' wide and 4' tall. The wall is 12' long. Followed by putting in a breakfast bar. This wall separates my kitchen from the dining room. I do not want to remove the wall, just modify it. Will this be a problem?
Regards,
Shon
