I live in Houston, Texas and I have a load bearing wall between my den and an add-on room. I believe the load bearing wall between the two rooms used to be the outside wall of the original 1950 house. This add on was done in the early '60's. The load bearing wall now has a cut out shelfs (a nicknack area). The wall is aprox 10 ft long. I am looking in my area for a reputable group to do a good job of removing this wall and doing finish work to open the two rooms. Can anyone help me with referrals or information regarding this project. I am very afraid of doing the wrong thing and picking the wrong contractor. H e l p. Any input is appreciated. Bart J.
