I have linoleum that was purchased and put down in 1965. I have begun to remove it. It is very thin with a brown backing. It is old and brittle with pieces cracking off. The linoleum is one piece(no separate backing on bottom). I have started to break off large pieces to throw out.

My question is: is this linoleum constructed with asbestos. In cracking off pieces of this very thin and old linoleum am I releasing asbestos?
