The top of the desk that I'm writing this at is battleship linoleum. It was refinished and a new top put on maybe 10 years ago. Honestly, it was very difficult to find true linoleum. I happened to mention my search to a buddy who knew of a place that had a roll left after a mis-order 20 years before and I bought a piece for my desk top. They said that they thought it was the last available material in the state. I would believe it.
It makes a good desk top but never seems to quit moving. Cutting to size is tough and it's always changing. There may be some reasons why people switched to vinyl but still use the old terminology. I don't believe that I want it in a bigger area, but I'd be happy to hear why the new linoleum is better.
