Bill,due to its weak molecular structure limestone is not resistant to carbolic acid and other acids,even with out the ground water,the damage is done! Short of radical repairs that are quite expensive, the only economic alternatives are plastering with galvanized lathe or a inexpensive frame wall with paneling that is mildew resistant(greenboard) sorry----Craig
