We have a ranch house that the previous owners added on a 1 car garqage with a room above it. The room is about 1/2 a floor up from the house first floor. My problem is that they built the foundation about 10 inches below grade si the driveway is oitched towards the house. Also the ceiling in the garage is low. I believe they did this to keep the back of the house even and so they could use the what use to be the side stairs to the side of the house. I guess they did this to control costs. My problem now is when it rains, if the drain is not clear or rains to hard the driveway fills with water. My questions is how difficult or how feasable would it be to lift the room ub and add 2 rows of cinder blocks and set the room back on top, Than have a new floor poured to bring the height up to grade. this would fix the water problem and give me a higher ceiling in the garage. Thank you for input.
