Leveling subfloor addition

Karl, let's see if we've got this right; you've in effect extended your subfloor, and where it meets the original floor it's 1/2" low at one end, and flush at the other?

If that's the case, yes, you can use floor patch to float and trowel level this adjoining area out to match the existing. I'd first use 1/4" underlayment in as much of the low area as you could, to take up space and make for less fill.
