I have a Lennox Model # G16Q3-75-1, Serial # 5884B07998, with a Johnson ignition control with lockout (Part # G60QHL) that ignites intermittently and frequently requires a tap on the control from the handle of a screwdriver (that's what the furnace man said he did to get it to spark). If the tapping causes it to spark, is the problem in the control module or in the valve underneath it? Is this typical of a short in the module or is the valve partially plugged or stuck and the tapping loosens the valve enough to permit the gas to flow? The valve has a part # 8402 72. What do you think?
Finally, would a replacement kit (for Lennox G16 furnaces) that includes a Honewell ignition control, control brake, igniter, flame senser, and ground wire solve either or both problems?
