Lennox Furnace mod. G-32 problems

Posted by Bill D. on December 7th, 2002 07:00 AM

Last November we had a Lennox Dimension G-32 Gas furnace installed after our oil furnace gave us some problems. The old furnace was quite and heated the house well. We were just concerned about the petroleum odor after servicing. As we have a household member who suffers migraines that may be brought on by odors.

Now the problem. When the second stage blower kicks in it sounds like the afterburner on a fighter plane. Lennox capitalizes on having a quite furnace. Not so in our case. The dealer has been back twice, cannot help. I called the tech support at Lennox and sat on hold for 20 minutes (no toll free number), and finally gave up. I know the dealer reduced the size of the return duct where it ties into filter (active electronic), but that is the return. Also, on occasion, when the blower turns off the ducts will "bang". Not all the time, just on occasion, but after you heard it once or twice you just wait for it. Which can also add to the aggravation.

One more problem. The exhaust vent, which is about knee level, sometimes smells like chlorine or bleach.

Where is Dave when we need him?

Any suggestions?
