My toilet is only about 6 years old. The problem began as a continuous dribble down the inside of the bowl. Not the biggest deal, but I knew I was wasting water, so with very little plumbing knowledge or experience, I decided one Saturday to tackle the problem.
So I removed the tank, and since the parts were cheap enuf, I replaced ALL the guts inside. I put a fresh tank seal at the bottom and reconnected the tank to the bowl. I tightened the bolts ever so slightly to prevent breaking the porcelin tank and it leaked. I tightened more and it still leaked. I tightened more and SNAP! - I broke the porcelin tank exactly as I hoped NOT would happen!
I have now replaced the tank with a new one and don't wsh to make the same mistake twice. I am at the stage where everything is together, the bolts are snug, but it is STILL LEAKING! What is the secret?? please help!
