Leaky Faucet

Posted by Diane Pietro on February 10th, 2003 09:57 PM

I have a shower knob that is one pull out knob. It doesn't allow me to turn off the water anymore no matter how hard I push it in. If I take the knob off and put the screw back into the shaft and tighten it the water will turn off. I talked to someone at work about it and he thought that I may need a new washer . I tried to pull the guts out of the pipe to check the washer but it is stuck in there. How do I get the screw and the washer out of the pipe without damaging the pipe? There seems to be a plastic ring around the end of the pipe holding it in. I tried to get that ring off with a wrench and it cracked a little bit but the ring remained stuck on the pipe. I don't want to crack it anymore more. Any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks
