Leaky Basement With"Monolithic Floor"

Posted by Kiesha on January 6th, 2000 01:12 PM

When we have a heavy rain my basement leaks between a couple of bricks in the wall. It actually squirts out. We can not do anything from the outside of the house because we have a deck and a balcony above it supported by a cement slab in that area. So we tried to have it repaired from the inside and was told by a contractor that they could not cut into the floor. I watched them use all kinds of drills and they could not even crack it. They said the floor was made out of some special cement mixture because it is the main support of one side of our house. A suggestion from the contractor was to find someone to install a "beaver drain system" which is what is similar to what is already down there. This basement was finished and used for recreation, but we took all of the paneling out due to termites and water damage. Can anyone offer any suggestions??? Whether or not we can get this basement water proof will determine if we keep this house.
