In reply to Roof leaks are.... by Steve: on March 7th, 2001 09:10 AM [Go to top of thread]

I BOUGHT A MOBILE HOME THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER
HAD ADDED A THREE ROOM ADDITION HE BUTTED THE
ADDITION TO THE MOBILE HOME AND TO TOP IT OFF
HE USED A CORRIGATED ROOF TIN AND NO PITCH WAS
GIVEN TO THE ROOF IT IS FLAT AND I HAVE REPLACED
ALL THE DRYWALL AND THE OTHER DAY WE HAD A RAIN
STORM HERE IN CENTRAL TEXAS AND I NOTICE A LEAK
IN ONE OF THE ROOMS. AND MY QUESTION IS THERE A
SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM I WAS THINKING ABOUT
REPLACING ALL THE TIN BUT I AM AFRAID THAT IF
I DO THAT I WILL CREATE MORE PROBLEMS BECAUSE
WHERE THE ADDITION AND THE MOBILE HOME BUTT
TOGETHER IT IS REAL RUSTY THAT WOULD BE THE AREA
WHERE THE FLASHING,AND THE DRIP EDGE OF THE MOBILE HOME MEET.AND MY SECOND IDEA IS THAT
HAVE A FREIND THAT IS WELDER AND I WAS THINKING
ABOUT HAVING HIM FABRICATE A STEEL FRAME ROOF
OVER THE WHOLE DWELLING WITH A HIGHER PITCH ROOF
THEN USING A COLORED TIN AS THE ROOFING MATERIAL.

LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINION ON MY IDEAS AND IF YOU
HAVE A BETTER ONE LET ME KNOW

THANK YOU
