Leaking Chimney on pre-fab fireplace.

Posted by Mike L. on November 17th, 2002 06:12 PM

I have a Majestic superhearth fireplace. EVer since it was installed there have been leak problems wherein teh water leaks in through the front of the fireplace where the decorative marble in the house meets the top of the fireplace. The chimney is a chase that was built over the stove pipe to look like a real chimney. It was covered in stucco. It has been checked and there was a crack which was sealed. The problem howeever persists when it rains in certian directions towards the chimney. The cap was replaced and it still leaks (although perhaps the wrong one was used). It is a perplexing problem...Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Could it be from the cap and drip down the outside of the pipe onto the unit then down through the marble or could it be seeping through the stucco???

Thank you so much.
