I have a ceramic tile shower which we discovered is leaking water through the wall into an adjoining closet. The tiles at the bottom of the shower, where the wall meets the floor, have cracks in them. We discovered that the shower was leaking when my wife discovered the carpe was wet in the closet. We got a carpenter to look at it and he said apparently the pan under the shower is leaking and the whole shower needs to ripped out and redone. The house is about 45 years old. I am wondering if there is some other way of repairing this shower other than the drastic way the carpenter suggested. Could it be repaired with some type of coating such as epoxy or some type of insert put in over the ceramic tile? Any thoughts?
