leaking basement during rain

Posted by Lillie M. Johnson on October 12th, 1999 05:05 PM

Advice needed about what to do about a leaking basement. When it rains, the water comes down one wall of the basement. Now you can see a trace of mud on the floor near the wall. I asked a waterproofing company to give me an estimate of the cost of fixing the problem. He said that there is probably a crack in the wall behind the panel. He felt the most logical way to handle such is by digging around the wall on the inside and installing a sump pump to pump the water out. Is this the most economical way to resolve such a problem. He stated that the cost would be approximately $1,900. Is this a reasonable price for this kind of work. I would appreciate help in this matter.
