Hi Bob:

My husband and I just purchased an old "1777" home in Maine and have a question about lead paint. The downstairs of the house seems to have been stripped and none of the windows in the house are painted. But upstairs in the bedrooms, the baseboards have lead and the doors on the bedrooms and the closets have lead. The baseboards are in fairly good condition and don't seem to be flaking everywhere just in a few spots. We have taken the doors off and plan to strip them with Citristrip outside in the barn away from the house. I guess my question is, do we need to really do this to the baseboards and doorframes, or can we somehow encapsilate and seal the paint since it is not really flaking?

Thanks for your help!
