lead paint

Posted by C. Cunningham on January 19th, 2000 11:00 PM

My parents home is an early 1950s home in a small Texas town. They want to repaint the interior including the walls, ceilings and wooden windows and trim of several rooms. I am worried about any scraping, sanding etc. of worn paint because of the risk of putting lead dust into the air since they have grandchildren under the age of 4 who are frequently in the home. They will be putting in new carpeting in the ares to be repainted. Help! They are anxious to get started and I want to be safe since my child visits their home. Thanks.
