Laminate Flooring v. Southern Yellow Pine

Posted by Mary Beth Saunders on September 1st, 1997 02:55 PM

I was going to use Common 1 Southern Yellow Pine flooring in two bedrooms; but I just received the new IKEA catalog, and it lists a laminate flooring called Tundra at just $2.39 per square foot. It comes with a 15-year limited warranty, and according to the catalog, it can be used in heavy traffic areas. I know that Pergo flooring was originally sold at IKEA. Could this be the same as Pergo Original or a lower grade? I would appreciate any comments. Thanks. BTW, this is a DIY project which would entail renting a sander, applying polyurethane and each bedroom being out-of-commission for at least two weeks (I have a full-time job) for the pine floors.
