andie.......why do you want to lacquer it? Decorative paint isn't like automotive - where you put a clear over a base color to protect it.

Adding a lacquer over that won't help the paint at all. In fact - it can have the opposite effect.

First - Unless you use a waterbourne lacquer - it will give a yellow cast to the piece which will get worse as it ages.

Second - you could have some incompatibility problems with the lacquer - and it might come off.

If you want to do anything to make it last longer - apply another coat of the paint you already applied.......
